Report on Public Meeting

A good number of members and others met at the Community Centre on the 23rd. The results of the survey, that had been completed by 150 local businesses and residents, were presented. A number of helpful ideas were brought forward and it was great to get local input about how Nairn should develop. There was appreciation for what was presented and encouragement to move forward with plans for the old Social Work building. No decisions have been made and the business plan is due to be completed by the end of June. It is clear that the building has to encourage visitors to stop and explore Nairn. Tourist Information may be a key element but anything from a cafe to an Exotic Animal Centre are possible. In due course local businesses will be asked to bring forward proposals for how they could use the space.
